Notary in Yerevan: Legalization of Foreign Documents, Translations, and Powers of Attorney
Without proper certification, your foreign documents in Armenia are just waste paper. Opening a business? Applying for a residence permit? Buying an apartment? You need a notary in Yerevan.
The main nuance of RA legislation: state authorities accept documents exclusively in Armenian with the certified signature of an accredited translator. The Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RA, the State Register of Legal Entities, and the State Revenue Committee (SRC) will turn you away if there is no local seal or the international legalization chain is broken. Notary offices are overloaded. Lines. Errors in texts. We solve this problem. Professional notary services in Yerevan through our team mean turnkey work without you sitting in waiting rooms.
How It Works: Legalization and Execution Algorithm
Our experience shows: 90% of requests relate to powers of attorney, passport translations, and corporate acts. We act strictly according to protocol.
- Apostille and consular legalization. The document from your country must be legalized in advance. Otherwise, an Armenian notary will not accept it. The exception is the Minsk Convention countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, etc.), for which an original with a blue seal is sufficient.
- Certified translation. A notary does not translate texts themselves. They certify the signature of a certified translator known to them. We organize an exact legal translation into Armenian within 1–2 business days.
- Notarization. We submit the prepared package to the office. Fee estimates: certifying a passport translation costs about 3,000–5,000 AMD. Executing a power of attorney to manage a business or open a bank account is 10,000–20,000 AMD.
- Issuance of the act. You pick up the legalized document. Fast. With guaranteed acceptance.
Three Fatal Mistakes When Certifying Documents
The main risk for the client lies in technical defects. One typo can ruin an entire deal.
- Transliteration of names. The translator spelled your last name with one “o” instead of two. The notary mechanically certified it. Result: The State Register of Legal Entities will refuse to register the LLC, as the data does not match your passport.
- Broad wording in powers of attorney. Expats love to issue general powers of attorney “for everything.” Local banks and the SRC block them. If the text lacks a direct indication of the right to open a specific transit account or file tax reports, the paper will not work.
- Blind submission of foreign certificates. Bringing a police clearance certificate without an apostille and demanding its translation for the migration service. This is a dead end. The notary will refuse. You will lose precious days of your legal stay limit.
Practical Advice from a Lawyer
Bureaucracy does not forgive fuss. Looking for an available specialist on the streets of the capital is a lottery. Comprehensive notary services in Yerevan save hours of your time and protect against sudden refusals in state bodies.
In practice, we recommend not risking deals due to a crooked translation or inaccurate wording. If the registration of a company, obtaining resident status, or purchasing valuable assets is at stake, you need professional legal support. We will prepare the texts of powers of attorney ourselves, translate them with proven accredited specialists, and process them through the notary without lines. Hand the documents over to us. We will ensure their flawless legal validity.
Still Have Questions?
We Are Ready to Answer!
Bureaucracy does not forgive mistakes. We have compiled frequent questions about the legalization of foreign documents, translations, and the execution of powers of attorney in Armenia.
Remember: one incorrect legal term in a power of attorney will lead to a refusal at the bank or the tax authority (SRC). Our team will prepare correct texts, organize the work of a certified translator, and conduct notarization without lines.
State notary fees are fixed. The final cost depends on the type of document and the volume of text (number of characters for translation). For example, certifying a passport translation will cost less than translating a multi-page corporate charter. We provide a full estimate in advance, including the work of an accredited translator. No hidden fees.
No. Under RA law, a notary is not responsible for the meaning of the translation; they only certify the signature of a certified translator known to them. You cannot bring "your own" translation or translate via Google. We work only with verified specialists. This completely eliminates errors in the transliteration of names when submitting papers to the Migration Service or the State Register.
You cannot issue a new Armenian power of attorney remotely — the notary is obliged to establish your identity during a personal visit with your original passport. But we can remotely legalize the documents you already have. Send them to us by courier. Important: certificates from non-CIS countries must already have an apostille from the country of issuance. We will do the translation and certification in Yerevan without your presence.
The standard processing time is 1–2 business days. Translation of passports, police clearance certificates, and civil registry certificates goes quickly. Voluminous contracts or extracts from foreign registers require more time for accurate legal adaptation. In emergency cases, an expedited rate (same day) is available.
